SHILLONG, Oct 23: The Meghalaya SSA Schools’ Association (MSSASA) and the All Meghalaya 4th Teachers’ Association have accepted two assurances from Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma—implementation of a new pay structure for SSA and 4th teachers, and the government takeover of all SSA schools.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the two associations held at Malki Ground on Thursday, MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said the decision to accept the two offers was unanimous.
He said the Chief Minister had reportedly indicated that the exercise to finalise the assurances will be completed by November, allowing the government to make the official announcement by December 25.
Meghalaya has 3,332 SSA schools to be taken over by the government, including 3,034 community schools and 298 private aided schools.
