SHILLONG, Oct 24: The state government has notified the creation of multiple police outposts in Meghalaya, so as to enhance public convenience and ensure better administrative efficiency in law enforcement across various districts.
According to a statement here, a new police station has been established at Dakopgre in the West Garo Hills District, which will be known as Dakopgre Police Station. With its creation, the areas under its jurisdiction will no longer fall under Tura Police Station.
The boundaries of Dakopgre Police Station are Damalgre Police Station, South West Garo Hills district in the north; Babadam Outpost in the east; Tura Police Station in the south; and Araimile Police Station in the west.
Additionally, the government has announced the creation of three new police outposts, namely Maweit Police Outpost in West Khasi Hills district, Ashugre Police Outpost in South Garo Hills district and Jadi Police Outpost in South Garo Hills district.
The boundaries of Maweit Police Outpost are Nongstoin and Mawshynrut police stations in the north, Mawkyrwat Police Station (South West Khasi Hills) in the east, Nonghyllam Police Station (South West Khasi Hills) in the south and Shallang Police Station in the west.
On the other hand, the Ashugre Police Outpost will cover Digranggre village under Sangknigre Police Station in the north, Deku village under Chokpot Police Station in the east, Rimrangpara village under Dalu Police Station (West Garo Hills) in the south and Sandong village under Sangknigre Police Station in the west.
Meanwhile, the Jadi Police Outpost will encompass Rongdong village under Siju Police Station in the north, Darang Boldak and Pattalgittim villages under Nongalbibra Police Station in the east and south respectively, and Simsang River along with Rangram Pattal village under Shallang Police Station (West Khasi Hills) in the west.
