SHILLONG, Nov 1: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum launched a series of development projects worth ₹3.53 crore for his constituency.
These include two road projects, one connecting Jaïaw Shyiap to Riatsamthiah near the Church, and the other stretching from Riatsamthiah Community Hall to Wahingdoh Bridge.
Speaking at a gathering held on Saturday evening, Nongrum said that it is his responsibility to follow up and ensure the implementation of all such projects.
He appreciated the village dorbar and the women’s organisation for their dedication and hard work in addressing the developmental needs of their localities.
Announcing the schemes, the MLA urged all contractors entrusted with the work to ensure quality and durability, so that the projects serve the people effectively and stand the test of time.
The projects, implemented under the Grand-in-Aid and Infrastructure Development schemes of the Urban Affairs Department, will be executed under the supervision of the Shillong Municipal Board.
The Jaïaw Shyiap-Riatsamthiah road (Phase I) will be constructed at a cost of ₹1.2 crore, while the Riatsamthiah-Wahingdoh bridge road has been sanctioned at ₹1.69 crore.
An additional ₹1.26 crore has been earmarked for other works, including drainage, footpaths, and essential civic infrastructure.
