Tura, Nov 3: The Hajong Students’ Union (HSU) has sought a clarification from the chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) over the recent advertisement seeking candidates for 127 LDA positions in the state of Meghalaya.
The HSU through a letter today stated that Other Scheduled Tribes (OST) were supposed to be provided 5% of the reservation of seats which came to about 6.35 seats (at least 6 seats) but after perusing the advertisement found only 5 seats reserved for OSTs.
“There is a discrepancy of 1 seat which has caused confusion among aspirants belonging to OST, including our tribe. We are a minority tribe in the state and even 1 seat holds tremendous significance to us. We earnestly request your office to review and issue a clarification in the matter,” said president, Bapu Hajong.
