SHILLONG, Nov 3: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has constituted a committee to identify potential candidates for the upcoming GHADC elections, even as the party expressed confidence that the recent resurgence of the Congress in Garo Hills will not affect its prospects.
UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh on Monday said that the committee has been tasked with overseeing the party’s activities across Garo Hills and identifying interested candidates for the polls.
Asserting that the Congress’s revival would have little impact on the UDP, Lyngdoh said the party currently has one MDC in Garo Hills, which has limited its ability to carry out extensive political activities in the region.
“Once we have more elected members, you will see the difference,” Lyngdoh stated.
