SHILLONG, Nov 15: The Congress party in Meghalaya has received applications from 75 individuals proposing themselves as party candidates for the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Sources in the Congress said that applications were invited some time ago, and more than 75 applications were received. These applications will now move from the block to the district level and will finally reach the state level after being shortlisted.
The list of final candidates is likely to be announced within this year after seeking consent from the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
However, if the GHADC elections are deferred, there will be changes in the schedule for declaring the candidates.
