Fire breaks out at godown in Iewduh

SHILLONG, Nov 18: A fire incident was reported on Sunday evening at a godown located in the Secondhand Market area of Iewduh causing significant damage to goods stored inside.
The owner, Indra Kumar Chettri, a resident of Rilbong, filed an FIR at Lumdiengjri police station on Monday stating that the fire broke out at his godown at around 8.30 pm.
He said the blaze was first noticed by nearby residents, who quickly alerted others in the vicinity.
The flames spread rapidly, damaging a large quantity of goods stored in the facility. Fire brigade personnel, along with neighbours and staff, managed to bring the situation under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
In the FIR, Chettri stated that the preliminary cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit, as mentioned in the FIR.
He asked the police to investigate the matter and take necessary action as per law.
