Six booked for forcing woman to undress at gunpoint

MUMBAI, Dec 1: Six persons have been booked for allegedly threatening a 51-year-old woman with a revolver and forcing her to undress at a pharmaceutical company’s office in 2023 in Mahalaxmi area on Monday.The FIR was registered on the orders of Bombay High Court, the official said. They have been charged with sexual harassment and other offences.The victim has also alleged that the accused persons clicked her semi nude photos, recorded videos and threatened to circulate them on social media. The victim, who has a photo frame and gifting business, was allegedly assaulted to force her to give a false statement to police in a case involving one of the accused. (PTI)

Body of student found hanging in KIIT hostel room

BHUBANESWAR, Dec 1: The body of a first-year B Tech student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was found hanging in his hostel room here, police said on Monday.The deceased was identified as Rahul Yadav (18), a Computer Science student, who hailed from Raipur.“His body was found hanging in the hostel room,” police said.The incident had taken place on Sunday, and the body was recovered by police. The family members of the deceased student have been informed.Police are investigating into the case from all angles to ascertain the cause of death. The police have seized the mobile phone and laptop of the deceased as part of the investigation. The hostel room has also been sealed. (PTI)

Delhi’s air quality slips back to ‘very poor’

NEW DELHI, Dec 1: Delhi’s air quality slid back into the ‘very poor’ category on Monday, registering an AQI of 304, a setback after a brief relief the previous day. The capital had recorded an AQI of 279 on Sunday, its first ‘poor’ air day since November 5.According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Monday’s reading marked a continuation of the city’s prolonged pollution spell.Over the past week, Delhi’s AQI has swung between 279 and 382, frequently inching toward the ‘severe’ zone. Notably, no station recorded ‘severe’ air on Monday, consistent with the weekend trend but a marked change from Friday, when eight stations fell into that category. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology’s Decision Support System estimated transport emissions contributed 20% to Delhi’s pollution on Monday, with a similar share expected on Tuesday. (PTI)
