Advisory

The East Garo Hills district administration has advised all government and private institutions, business establishments, households, etc., against feeding stray dogs in and around sensitive public spaces, in line with a Supreme Court directive aimed at preventing stray dog-related incidents. In a notification, the district administration sought the cooperation of all residents, institutions, shops and locality bodies to ensure safety in both public and private areas. Residents have been urged not to feed stray dogs inside or near hospitals, schools, markets, bus stands or residential lanes, and to secure their homes to prevent the entry of stray dogs. The public has also been advised to immediately report any aggressive dogs, dog-bite cases or sightings of stray dogs within school, hospital or market premises. Additionally, households and establishments have been directed not to leave food waste in open areas, as this may attract stray animals.

Cleaning drive

The Dorbar Shnong Mission Compound will conduct a community cleaning drive from 7 am onwards on Saturday. According to a statement here, there will be no restrictions on vehicle movement through the locality. However, all vehicle owners—both private (two-wheelers and four-wheelers) and commercial taxi drivers—have been asked requested to drive slowly and cautiously to avoid any untoward incidents during the cleaning activity.
