Byndihati SC run riot as Women’s League 2025 kicks off in EJH

Jowai, Dec 9: The women’s football tournament organised by the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association, known as the Women’s League 2025, began on Tuesday , at the Artificial Turf Ground, Diengshynrum, Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District.
In the opening match between Umshong SC and Jalyiah United SC, the teams ended in a goalless draw (0–0).
While in the second match, Byndihati SC registered a massive victory of 14–0 against Narpuh WWSC. The goals for Byndihati SC were scored by, Makrisha Songthiang, who scored 8 goals in the 6th, 20th, 24th, 31st, 42nd, 54th, 60th & 79th minutes, Charlinda Nongtdu, who scored 3 goals in the 12th, 35th & 37th minutes.
Deimonmi Lyngdoh in the 23rd minute, Happily Lyngdoh in the 55th minute. Diwakar Dkhar in the 77th minute.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was graced by James Sutnga, General Secretary of EJHDFA, in the presence of office bearers and members of the association, including Mehiwot Shadap (Working President), Embhahlang Lamurong (Tournament Secretary), Sookini Pohplet (member), and other football enthusiasts of the area.
As the first whistle of the Women’s League 2025 echoed across the well-kept turf at Khliehriat, it marked more than just the start of another district tournament — it signalled a quiet but determined rise of women’s football in East Jaintia Hills.
Tuesday’s matches, contrasting in their outcomes yet unified in spirit, offered a glimpse of the talent and enthusiasm simmering in these communities.
