LIFE Co-Op gets Cabinet nod; move aimed to boost cooperative sector

SHILLONG, Dec 20: The State Cabinet has approved the establishment of the Meghalaya Livelihoods and Investment Financing Cooperative Society Ltd (LIFE Co-Op) to strengthen the cooperative credit and investment sector in Meghalaya.
This institution is designed to provide simplified and accessible financial support to cooperative societies and farmers, with a specific focus on agriculture and food processing.
Additionally, it will also fund processing units and provide working capital to ensure timely payments to farmers.
Established in response to the strong growth potential anticipated over the next three to four years, the institution aims to improve financial access and support value addition across the sector.
