SHILLONG, Dec 26: The redevelopment project being constructed at the Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) site in Khyndai Lad is nearing completion and is expected to be finished by mid-next year, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Wednesday.
Providing an update on the project, Dhar, who also oversees urban development, said the government is targeting completion of the project between June and July next year. He informed that construction work is in its final stages.
The project is being developed at the premises of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation in Khyndai Lad at an estimated cost of Rs 216 crore.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the state government plans to house a hotel along with other commercial and office spaces within the new building. He said the project is envisioned as a key urban infrastructure development in the heart of the city.
The Khyndai Lad redevelopment project is among the major urban renewal initiatives being undertaken by the Meghalaya government, aimed at optimising the use of prime land and enhancing civic and commercial facilities in Shillong’s central business district.
