TURA, Jan 13: Kharkutta MLA Rupert Momin on Monday inaugurated the Dilma Adap Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) in Adokgre, North Garo Hills, aimed at enhancing healthcare access for remote border villages.
The new facility, under the Adokgre C&RD Block, will provide comprehensive primary healthcare services, including maternal and child health care, non-communicable disease screening, basic diagnostics, and tele-consultation.
Speaking as the chief guest, Momin said the sub-centre would bridge a critical gap for residents, particularly the elderly and children, who previously had to travel long distances for basic medical attention. He specifically urged women to opt for institutional deliveries at the centre to reduce maternal and infant health risks.
North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Dr Abhishek Saini praised the Health department for establishing the facility in a remote area. He noted that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring essential health and education services reach far-flung regions.
The inauguration included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and an inspection of the facility by officials. The programme was attended by Adokgre BDO Diganto Hajong, DM&HO Dr Priya Sengse R Sangma, and other senior medical officers and community leaders.
