SHILLONG, Feb 3: The Meghalaya BJP on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the 2026-27 Union Budget, describing it as growth-oriented and reform-driven.
Party chief spokesperson Maraiahom Kharkrang stated that the country’s economy has maintained steady growth and low inflation over the past 12 years due to the central government’s policy decisions.
The party noted that the budget focuses on employment generation, agricultural productivity, and increasing household purchasing power. It further cited that more than 350 reforms have been rolled out since Independence Day 2025 to stimulate economic growth.
The BJP added that Meghalaya is set to benefit from various central schemes and ongoing connectivity projects under the new budget allocations.
Additionally, the state unit welcomed the recent India–United States trade deal, calling it a historic agreement that would provide long-term benefits to citizens in both nations.
