City to witness total lunar eclipse today

SHILLONG, March 2: A total lunar eclipse will be visible in Shillong on Tuesday, with the total phase of the eclipse already in progress at the time of moonrise.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the eclipse will be visible from most parts of India, except some locations in the extreme western region of the country. The phenomenon will also be visible across eastern Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean and the Americas.
In general, the umbral (partial eclipse) phase of the eclipse will begin at 3:20 pm. The totality will begin at 4:34 pm and end at 5:33 pm. The umbral phase will conclude at 6:48 pm.
In Shillong, the moon will rise at 5:23 pm. By that time, the total lunar eclipse will already be under way, and the total phase will be visible.
The duration of the eclipse visible in Shillong will be approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes.
The next lunar eclipse visible from India will be a partial one that will occur on July 6, 2028.
