KSU constitutes caretaker body as CEC term ends

SHILLONG, April 5: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has concluded the tenure of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) for 2023-2026 and constituted a caretaker body to oversee operations until fresh elections are held.
The caretaker committee is led by incumbent president Lambokstarwell Marngar and general secretary Donald V Thabah.
Election committee secretary Samuel Jyrwa announced that the XVI General Election for the 2026-2029 term will take place on May 9, from 8 am to 3 pm, at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw. Ten posts will be contested, including president, vice president, general secretary, and assistant general secretary.
According to the election schedule, nomination papers will be issued at the KSU office in Jaiaw from April 4 to April 11. Submissions will be accepted between April 6 and April 13, with the withdrawal of nominations allowed on April 14. Scrutiny of the papers is scheduled for April 15.
Candidates must submit their nomination papers to election committee chairman Danny M. Khyriem or the committee secretary within the stipulated timeframe.
Additionally, all KSU units, circles, and district units have been directed to submit the names of ten voters each to the union office by April 11.
