Members of Assam Club on Sunday paid rich tributes to former Director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Dr Rabindra Kumar Sarma, who passed away on March 31. In a condolence meeting held at Assam Club premises of Laban, the club members recalled his contributions to the society not only as a medical professional but also as a social worker. One of the senior members of the club highlighted Dr Sarma’s professional achievements, clinical expertise and warm persona. Dr Sarma was associated with several organisations including Assam Club, Laban Namghar and Shillong Central Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee. Members observed a minute of silence praying for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Condolence

A condolence meeting was held by the Gorkha Association on Sunday in memory of Late Maniram Chettry, a renowned athlete and prominent footballer who represented the association in various tournaments. He was an alumnus of Gorkha Secondary School, Upper Shillong. In the meeting, the association members paid rich tribute to the departed soul. A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect.
