Second edition of Rugby Premier League from June 16
NEW DELHI, April 6: The second edition of the Rugby Premier League (RPL), which is organised by GMR Sports in partnership with Rugby India, will be held at the Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad, from June 16 to 28.Like its inaugural season, the league would be held in the fast-paced Rugby 7s format. It will feature the six franchises from the first edition.The announcement follows GMR Sports’ recent signing of a strategic MoU with the Government of Telangana.“Hyderabad’s emergence as a global sporting destination reflects Telangana’s long-term policy vision and institutional support for international partnerships. Events like the Rugby Premier League contribute significantly to tourism, urban visibility, and the broader sports economy of the State,” said Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary.Outlining the league’s evolution, Rahul Bose, President of Rugby India, added, “With everything one does in life, the quest is to always do better, be better, deliver better. Aditi finishes T-27 as Lauren Coughlin wins in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, April 6: Indian golfer Aditi Ashok carded a three-over 75 in her final round to finish tied 27th at the Aramco Championship here, ending the week with an overall total of eight-over par.Aditi dropped three bogeys in her final round — on the fourth, sixth and 17th holes — and with no birdies to offset them, signed off with a three-over par round.She had earlier returned rounds of 74, 71 and 76 in the first three days.Pranavi Urs carded a four-over 76 to finish tied 66th with a total of 17-over par (76-75-78-76), while Avani Prashanth returned a five-over 77 to end the week in 73rd position with an overall score of 21-over par (75-76-81-77).Lauren Coughlin secured her third LPGA Tour title, with the 33-year-old ending her title drought since winning her second at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open in 2024.Coughlin carded a final round of even-par 72 to beat Leona Maguire and Nelly Korda to the title by five strokes.Coughlin finished the week with a score of 7-under par (67-69-73-72). Korda (68-74-69-75) and Maguire (70-71-74-71) finished with scores of 2-under par.World number one Jeeno Thithikil carded 2-under 70 on the final day to move up 21 positions to finish tied 17th. Sub-Jr. Hockey Men: Jharkhand beat TN 8-1
RANCHI, April 6: Jharkhand crushed Tamil Nadu 8-1 in a Division A match of the 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2026 in Rajgir on Monday.In Division ‘A’, other victories were claimed by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh while in Division ‘B’, Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, and Arunachal Pradesh registered victories.In the match against TN, Jaysan Kandulna (11’, 49’) scored a brace, while Sanjeet Bhengra (15’), Sukhu Guria (45’), Karan Kumar (8’), Sunil Bhengra (35’), Arpan Panna (41’), and Tani Ashish Purti (2’) contributed one goal each for Jharkhand.Sanjay (53’) was the lone scorer for Tamil Nadu. RANCHI, April 6: Chandigarh and Karnataka won their respective Division B matches, while Mizoram, Haryana, Odisha and Jharkhand triumphed in Division A games of the Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship here on Monday.Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu defeated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 1-0 in their Division B, Pool A fixture with Anushka Gupta (41’) scoring the winning goal.Chandigarh beat Hockey Himachal 4-1 in their Pool B Division B clash with Annu (7’,14’,52’) registering another hattrick, while Rani Radha (42’) also contributed in the win.Karnataka scored a commanding 6-1 win over Gujarat in a Pool B, Division B match.
