Two get 14 years RI for raping minor

SHILLONG, April 10: The Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, R. Rymbai, has sentenced two men to 14 years of imprisonment for the repeated penetrative sexual assault of a minor.
The convicts, identified as Kamkhothang Simte and Thangngin Sime, were found guilty in a case dating back to September 2018.
Following an FIR lodged at the Madanrting Police Station, the duo was arrested and subsequently charge-sheeted in February 2019.
In the judgment delivered on April 8, the court awarded both men 14 years of imprisonment under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The court also imposed a fine, the failure of which will result in an additional six months of jail time.
Furthermore, Kamkhothang Simte was sentenced to an additional two years of imprisonment under Section 506 of the IPC for criminal intimidation. He faces another three months in jail if he defaults on the fine for this offence.
The case was investigated by WPSI P. Wahlang, currently posted at the Rynjah Police Station.
