SHILLONG, April 15: Troops of the BSF Meghalaya Frontier have rescued a 10-year-old girl who suffered a severe electric shock at Rongra Bolgiske village in South Garo Hills.
According to a statement here, the victim, identified as one Nikhami N. Marak, had accidentally come into contact with a live electric pole at a civil construction site near the Rongra River around 11:30 am on April 7.
BSF personnel from BOP Rongra responded to the distress call and immediately coordinated with the Power department to disconnect the power supply to prevent further injury.
The girl was initially evacuated to the Rongra Primary Health Centre (PHC). Following first aid, she was shifted to the Baghmara Government Hospital in a BSF ambulance, accompanied by a nursing assistant and her family members.
