SHILLONG, April 23: The High Court of Meghalaya has recorded compliance in a PIL concerning the condition of roads in parts of the city after the state government confirmed that funds have been sanctioned for permanent repairs.
The PIL sought directions for the repair and regular maintenance of roads in Nongrimmaw and Laitumkhrah. Although the petition was disposed of on February 10, the matter was listed again to monitor the release of funds for long-term repair work.
During the hearing, Additional Advocate General T Yangi B informed the court that Rs 6.73 crore, as requested by the Executive Engineer of PWD (Roads), has been sanctioned. She assured the court that necessary steps would be taken to ensure the work is carried out expeditiously.
Accepting the submission, the court observed that no further orders are required in the matter.
