SHILLONG, April 29: The BJP has constituted an election committee to decide on the candidate for the upcoming Shillong parliamentary by-election.
Sources informed that there are as many as four to five applicants, the majority from Jaintia Hills, who wants to contest the election on a BJP ticket.
It is learnt that the party spokesperson, M Kharkrang, has not applied for the ticket, while former president, Ernest Mawrie, is keen to contest the by-election.
Apart from the BJP, the Congress is likely to field party president Vincent Pala as Manuel Badwar is not keen to contest.
The NPP, however, has not announced its candidate as well, but the party is said to arrive at a decision soon.
VPP is more or less likely to field party spokesperson, Batskhkem Myrboh.
