SHILLONG, April 30: The body of a 15-year-old girl from Firozabad, who slipped into the waters of Weisawdong Falls and was swept away by strong currents, was recovered on Thursday morning after an intense search operation.
The body was found around 10 am by the Search and Rescue Team, Fire and Emergency Services, and Sohra Police. SDO in-charge of Sohra Civil Sub-Division M.A. Challam said locals first spotted the body around 7.30 am. A post-mortem is being conducted at the Sohra Community Health Centre.
According to reports, the minor had travelled to Sohra with her parents and relatives for a visit. The incident occurred at around 11.30 am on Wednesday, when she was reportedly standing close to the edge of the waterfall.
The girl accidentally slipped and fell into the stream, and was swiftly carried away by the strong currents.
