SHILLONG, May 13: Nandini Ishvi O. Sangma from Meghalaya has been selected to represent India at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP13), scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia, from July 26 to 31.
Nandini, a Political Science student at Don Bosco College, Tura, is one of six delegates chosen from across the country for the international programme.
The event brings together participants aged 18 to 29 from Commonwealth nations for parliamentary simulations and leadership training.
Her selection follows her performance at the first-ever Youth Parliament in Garo Hills held in March, where she was adjudged the ‘Best Speaker’. That programme was organised by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Tura Christian College.
It may be mentioned that the Commonwealth Youth Parliament offers young aspiring leaders exposure to parliamentary procedures, governance, and legislative debates through simulated sessions and interactive discussions.
