MAWKYRWAT, June 1: Local MLA Renikton L Tongkhar on Monday inaugurated a new Dorbar Hall at Domjyrti village in South West Khasi Hills, constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) 2023-24.
Addressing the gathering, Tongkhar commended the contractor for the timely completion and quality of the project. While acknowledging that Domjyrti requires further developmental intervention, the MLA assured residents that he would work toward securing sanctions for a long-awaited internal road.
Regarding a request from local youth to upgrade the village football field into a mini-stadium, Tongkhar stated that while he cannot guarantee the project’s completion before 2028, he has listed the proposal as a priority.
The programme was also attended by Mawkyrwat Block Development Officer (BDO) I Lawriniang, Domjyrti Myntri B Nongsiej, and local residents.
