Vocational excellence awards for six noted personalities

SHILLONG, June 25: The Rotary Club Orchid City (RCOC), Shillong, honoured six individuals with the Vocational Excellence Awards 2026 at a ceremony held at the State Convention Centre on Thursday.
The recipients—Ferrinard Lyngdoh Marshillong, Aibor Andrew, Starina Jasain, Sunny Mawlong, Dr. Rittwik Barman, and Fr. Michael Makri—were recognised for their professional achievements and societal contributions.
Chief guest Paul Lyngdoh, Adviser to the Social Welfare Department, congratulated the awardees, stating that true excellence is measured by the willingness to serve others. He encouraged the public to emulate the integrity and selfless service demonstrated by the recipients to help build a more compassionate society.
RCOC members noted that the awards seek to highlight individuals who maintain high ethical standards in their professions while serving their communities. They added that the initiative also aims to inspire the younger generation to balance professional success with social responsibility. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards, reflecting the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”
