Shrek spinoff Donkey announced, film to release in 2028
DreamWorks Animation has officially announced Donkey, a standalone spinoff centred on the beloved Shrek character. Hollywood star Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as the fast-talking sidekick in the movie, which Universal Pictures and DreamWorks will release in theatres on June 30, 2028, reported Deadline. The movie will serve as an origin story, exploring how the donkey became the fan-favourite character known simply as Donkey. Charlie Bean, known for The Lego Ninjago Movie and the live-action Lady and the Tramp, will direct the film. The announcement comes ahead of the release of Shrek 5, which is slated to hit theatres in 2027. (PTI)
Brad Bird rules out Ratatouille sequel
Filmmaker Brad Bird says he has no interest in revisiting the world of the acclaimed animated feature Ratatouille, insisting that the story reached its natural conclusion with the 2007 film. In an interview with Collider, Bird said he has been frequently asked asked about the possibility of a sequel but has always turned down the idea. ‘They’ve made little feints towards that to see how I would react. They’ll, like, crack a joke, but the joke will be a little bit serious, like, ‘Would you?’ And I’m like, ‘No, we told that story,’ the filmmaker said. ‘Any time you do something that ends up connecting with people, they automatically think, ‘How about another?’ he added. Pitt ‘not up for marrying Ines de Ramon’
Hollywood star Brad Pitt is not too keen on marrying his partner Ines de Ramon despite her becoming “part of the family”. The 62-year-old Fight Club and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood actor has been in a relationship with jewellery designer Ines de Ramon, 33, since 2022’. She has now become a regular presence at Pitt family gatherings and has forged close relationships with Brad’s relatives. But even though the couple continue to strengthen their relationship following the conclusion of Brad’s long-running divorce from Angelina Jolie, a source has told the outlet he is not headed for marriage with his latest partner. Kevin Rankin, Noel Fisher join Blood On The Promontory
Actor Kevin Rankin, known for East New York and Noel Fisher of Shameless, became the latest addition to the star cast of Warfare filmmaker Ray Mendoza’s directorial Blood On The Promontory. The actors will join the previously announced cast, which includes actors Sam Worthington, Jai Courtney, Jack Quaid, Jaeden Martell, and LaMonica Garrett, among others, according to the entertainment news outlet Deadline. The film follows convicts trying to escape through the mountains following a violent train robbery, while shackled together by foot. While on the run, they must survive both the unforgiving landscape and the growing mistrust between each other. It is set in 1871’s Wyoming. The details of the roles of the actors are kept under wraps. (PTI)
