SHILLONG, June 30: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said the Maharashtra government has agreed in principle to allot land for a new Meghalaya House in Navi Mumbai at a concessional government rate.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma stated that while the market value of the land is approximately Rs 90 crore, the state government requested the allotment at the government rate of around Rs 7 crore. “The Maharashtra government has agreed to our appeal,” he said.
The proposed Meghalaya House in Navi Mumbai will be designed as a public-oriented guest house to cater to the needs of people from the state visiting for medical treatment, education, and official work.
The Chief Minister also disclosed that he recently met with his Telangana counterpart to request land for a Meghalaya House in Hyderabad. “The chief minister has agreed to provide the land,” Sangma said.
According to Sangma, these facilities in Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad will significantly improve accommodation and support services for residents of Meghalaya travelling to these cities.
