HC defers PIL hearing in illegal coal mining case

SHILLONG, July 6: The High Court of Meghalaya on Monday deferred hearing in the suo motu PIL on illegal coal mining after the government filed its latest status report.
The bench, which is yet to examine the report, directed that the matter be taken up after one week.
It also took on record the 39th Interim Report submitted by the one-man committee headed by Justice (retired) B.P. Katakey and ordered copies to be circulated to all parties.
The next hearing is scheduled for July 20, 2026.
