 SHILLONG: Originality is the bottom-line of progress, said Meghalaya Additional Chief Secretary PBO Warjri while citing that duplication of other’s creation can only reflect one’s inability to be creative and innovative.

Addressing the 24th Convocation of IGNOU, Regional Centre Shillong at Don Bosco Youth Centre here on Monday, Warjri said for a country to progress and become a super power, originality is of utmost importance.

While pointing the fact that the country still has to purchase technology, the Additional Chief Secretary said “We need to produce our own technology, inventions and intellectual property, our challenge is to be innovative and creation”.

Meanwhile, stressing on the education aspect, Warjri said education can be promoted through various media thereby enabling the marginalized section of society to received education through various means. Warjri also lauded IGNOU for its achievement and functionality.

It may be mentioned that the 24th convocation is also being held at New Delhi wherein Minister of State for Human Resource Development, D Purandeswari was present as the Chief Guest and it is also being held simultaneously through teleconferencing mode via satellite at all regional centres of the university.
