Gunmen nabbed

Kohima: The common people of Phenjang Sector of Tuensang Town have recently apprehended two persons carrying unauthorised arms, harassing and firing at public places.

According to sources, the duo was later handed over to Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), the apex body of the Chang community, along with two arms and ammunition recently.

The CKS recorded the statement of the accused and as confessed by the culprits, they were found guilty of violating the CKS resolution. It further initiated stern action against them, while the arms (22 pistols) were destroyed on Tuesday in the presence of the district administration and the police department. (UNI)

NSCN-IM expresses concern over unabated crimes

Kohima: The NSCN (I-M) has alleged that disruptive elements were ‘making their hey days’ in Dimapur to make ‘easy money’ and commit all sorts of crimes.

In a statement released by the ‘Ministry of Information and Publicity’ (MIP) of the NSCN-IM today said with three political groups coming together to make a meaning of Naga political struggle to jointly defend the historical and political rights of the Nagas.

It said it’s time that the groups also come together in a coordinated manner.

”Every conceivable means with the active support of the public is explored to make a success against the criminals who have gone too far,” the statement read. (UNI)

Two suicides in Tripura daily

Agartala: Two people commit suicide in Tripura every day, a home department document said.

“Over 330 people, including 114 women, committed suicide in Tripura during the past 150 days,” the report said.

It quoted sociologist Sujan Banik as saying that most people killed themselves because of economic reasons, family disputes, unsuccessful love affairs and dowry related rows. (IANS)
