SIM card black-marketeer held, released

JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills Police on Thursday picked up one Johny Borgohain for selling SIM cards of various service providers in the black market.
Acting on a tip off, Police picked up Borgohain from Wah-Nangbah area of the town. Later a raid was conducted at his residence in Khliehtyrshi where bundles of documents and duplicate copies of EPICs were seized.
Borgohain was released post questioning.
Police sources informed that Borgohain used to copy EPICs from the website of the Meghalaya Election Department and use the documents to procure SIM cards of various service providers like Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel and Idea.
Meanwhile, sources alleged that Borgohain was running the illegal trade for over a year now and sold the SIM cards in the black market through various mobile shops.
