Attacks on Christian community in Delhi

SHILLONG: The National People’s Party has decided to approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek his intervention over the growing number of attacks on the Christian community in New Delhi.
The decision to this affect was taken at the meeting of the party in Tura on Saturday which was attended by NPP president and Lok Sabha member from Tura, Purno A. Sangma, and other party leaders.
NPP Meghalaya State Unit President WR Kharlukhi, on behalf of the party, condemned the attacks against the Christian community in Delhi and other parts of the country.
The party also opposed the extension of the term of the GHADC by the State Government for six months terming it as illegal and unconstitutional.
The NPP further expressed displeasure at the renaming of the MP Stadium at Dakopgre, Tura, by the State government despite the fact that the Stadium was built entirely from MPLADS fund at a cost of Rs.3.5 crore.
“It was shameless on the part of Mukul Sangma to erase the signboard mentioning the fact that the Stadium had been constructed with funds from the MPLADS,” Kharlukhi said.
The meeting also had a detailed discussion on organizational matters of the party and also reviewed the functioning of the NPP in all the five districts of Garo Hills, Kharlukhi concluded.
