The members of Sri Sarada Sangha, Shillong on Friday distributed clothes and cooked food to the deprived and destitute inmates of Shanti Bhavan. Shanti Bhavan, situated in Mother Teresa Road, Shillong, is serving poor, distressed, blind, physically and mentally handicapped people who are even rejected by their own family members since last two decades. Almost eighty inmates of the institute were benefited by the little effort of Sri Sarada Sangha.
Career guidance
The NSS unit of Sohra College recently organized a one-day career guidance programme which was attended by around 300 students. The college also concluded its college week last month with Home Minister Roshan Warjri present as the chief guest during the finale.
Book release
The book “The Gorkhas in the freedom struggle of India” by KK Muktan will be released in a function to be held on October 3 at Hotel Polo Towers.
Prohibition
The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi has prohibited dumping of garbage along the roadside on NH-40 and other roads within the district. The order was issued after garbage was dumped illegally garbage in an open area along the road side in the National Highway which is likely to cause air and water pollution in the area.
