Signature forgery not an inside job: SP

SHILLONG: Following the recent case of forging of the East Khasi Hills SP’s signature by one Ritngenlang Kharsohtun, who is currently in police custody, the district police chief M. Kharkrang said that it was not an inside job.
Earlier, Kharsohtun allegedly took Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 1,20,000 respectively from two  home guard personnel assuring to provide them jobs in Meghalaya Police. Later, one of the home guard personnel received a fake appointment letter which had the forged signature of the SP.
When contacted, the SP said on Saturday that no “inside person was involved in the case”.
“In this age of computerization, forgery of signatures can be done without hassle,” the SP added.
No arrests
Meanwhile, the SP informed that police are still investigating into the leakage of question papers and the Jhalupara blast incident.
“We are yet to make any arrests, but the investigations are on the right track,” the SP added.
