NEHU discusses new education policy

SHILLONG: A two day National seminar cum 23rd Annual Conference and silver jubilee celebration on the theme ‘New Education Policy in the Making: North East Perspective’ was organized by the Department of Education, North Eastern Hill University and sponsored by  ICSSR-NERC Shillong and NEHU recently.
This Conference was attended by many participants coming from various parts of India including the North East region.
A discussion on the New Education Policy framed by the Union Government to meet the changing dynamics of the population’s requirement with regard to quality education, innovation and research, aiming to make India a knowledge superpower by equipping its students with the necessary skills and knowledge and to eliminate the shortage of manpower in science, technology, academics and industry, was the highlight of the seminar.
The conference brought together academicians, emerging scholars, practitioners, teachers, professionals and policy makers to examine and debate on the shape of education for the future critically discussing   the role of the New Education Policy in knowledge production especially in the North East.
The chief guest of the occasion was Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, who also inaugurated the seminar.
