Complaints against Syiem of Hima Mylliem to be examined, asserts Lamphrang Blah
SHILLONG: KHADC EM in charge Forests, Lamphrang Blah, on Thursday said he was unaware of the handover of land at Mawpat forest to some Church bodies by some Myntris of Hima Mylliem.
Blah made the disclosure after HSPDP MDC P.S. Syiem moved a motion in this regard.
Syiem produced a letter in the House purportedly written by a Pastor of a Church to Hima Mylliem. “The letter mentions that the Pastor has requested Myntri M.B. Kharlukhi and Myntri L. Langstieh to return the amount of Rs 6 lakh to the Church which it had earlier handed over to the Syiem of Mylliem through Kharlukhi and Langstieh,” Syiem said while reading out the content of the letter.
Syiem requested Blah to enquire into the clandestine deal where the Hima Mylliem took money from the Church in exchange for forest land at Mawpat.
Blah asserted that the KHADC Executive Committee will conduct the enquiry and action will be taken.
Syiem further demanded ouster of Charming Kharshiing, an official of the Elaka department, but Blah brushed off the demand saying mistakes can occur in any department.
It may be noted that the Deputy Syiem of Hima Mylliem has refuted claims that a plot of land was allotted to some Church at Mawpat forest by the traditional body.
In view of the outcry over the removal of Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Paiem Latho Manik Syiem, Blah said he had received several complaints from the Myntris that the Syiem has not convened Dorbar Pyllun.
“We will conduct an inquiry and will take action against the Syiem of Hima Mylliem if he is found guilty,” Blah avowed.
It may be added here that some Myntris have demanded removal of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem alleging that he had embezzled crores of rupees.
