State funeral to begin from 11 AM at MP stadium

TURA: The mortal remains of Purno A Sangma will leave his home in Walbakgre for the last time on Monday morning. The casket containing his body will be first taken to the MP stadium, now renamed as the Dikki Bandi stadium, for the state funeral at 11 AM.
The state funeral is expected to be completed by 1 PM after which the funeral cavalcade will move to the Sacred Heart Church in Lower Chandmari for a special church service.
Earlier, the funeral programme was expected at the oldest Catholic church in Tura, the Cathedral Parish near Bishop House, but in view of the large number of well wishers and supporters expected to participate in the last rites, the family of Sangma informed that they have requested for holding of the funeral service at the Sacred Heart Church in Chandmari.
After the service P A Sangma mortal remains will be laid to rest at the Catholic cemetery next to the Bishop House.

11:00 am – 1:00 pm: State funeral to take place, where Chief
Minister, his cabinet colleagues  and other                  important dignitaries from Northeast are                      expected to take part in the programme.
1:00 – 1:30 pm:     Mortal remains to be taken out for final jour-                         ney towards Sacred Heart Church, KA Road,                        Tura via Arimile – Hawakhana – Ringrey –                              Chandmari
2:00 – 3:00 pm:    Church Service
3:00 – 3:30 pm:    Mortal remains to be taken to RC road Catho                         lic cemetery via St. Xavier’s School.
