NONGSTOIN: Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) Lai Lyngdoh area unit on Tuesday urged upon the State Government to speed up the black topping of road from Pombriew to Nongkhlaw (Nongstoin).
“The deplorable condition of the road from Nongstoin to Mawkyrwat has created a lot of problems for the people of the area, especially patients who travel to Nongstoin or either to Mawkyrwat for treatment” Chandra Nongdkhar, FKJGP president said after conducting an inspection of the existing road here.
He added that the padestrians face extreme problems during the rainy season.
Chandra also told that the 11.60 km road was sanctioned under up gradation of State Highway and Major District Road, with an estimated 2, 71, 84,900 has floated the tender three times on June 25 2012, June 30, 2013 and lastly on May 2, 2015.
FKJGP has also urged the contractor to speed up and complete the road before the onset of rainy season.
The FKJGP also demand the intervention of the Executive Engineer, Mawkyrwat Division PWD Department to speed up the construction.
