SHILLONG: Cases of misappropriation under the MGNREGS have once again come to light in the state.BDO of Kharkutta C&RD Block, North Garo Hills, R Z D Shira has lodged a complaint that between December 3, 2015 and February 12, 2016, one Khuljong Areng, former VEC secretary of Kharkutta Reserve (NGH) misappropriated project fund under MGNREGS 2014-2015, amounting to Rs. 2.34 lakh.
In a similar case of misappropriation, on April 28, N.N. Sangma, BDO of Songsak C&RD Block in East Garo Hills lodged a complaint that between December 3, 2015 and February 12, 2016, one Karan Marak, VEC president of Songsak Norek Megapgre, fraudulently withdrew Rs. 2.68 lakh from the VEC account by forging the signature of the complainant.
