SHILLONG: Former minister Manas Chaudhuri has resigned from the primary membership of Congress.
In a brief statement issued here on Friday, he said that he has forwarded his resignation letter to MPCC president DD Lapang on May 4.
Chaudhuri, who was elected twice to Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Mawprem constituency as an Independent candidate, had joined Congress in 2012. He fought unsuccessfully last general election on Congress ticket from South Shillong constituency.
He said he was disillusioned with the inept manner in which the party was being run in the State.
Chaudhuri further said that the credibility of Congress in the State was increasingly becoming questionable.
The statement is silent on whether he would join any party or remain independent.
