SHILLONG: Shillong on Friday was abuzz with an uniformed news that the commander-in-chief of the proscribed GNLA Sohan Shira has been arrested in Bangladesh.
An unconfirmed report said that Sohan has been arrested either in Netrakhona district or Mymmensing district of Bangladesh.
When contacted, a senior BSF official said that the matter had already been taken up with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the confirmation was awaited.
“The BGB made it clear that it had not arrested Sohan,” the BSF official said adding that there was a possibility of some other agency arresting him. When contacted, Meghalaya police also expressed ignorance about Sohan’s arrest.
