SHILLONG: Acting on complaints, the CSWO inspected the road from Nongpoh to Umden and found that the road construction was not up to the standard and the condition had turned dangerous for auto rickshaws ferrying passengers on the road.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said the condition of the road is bad and it takes time for vehicles, especially ambulances, to ply smoothly.
Kharshiing said it is only 4-6 km from Nongpoh to Umden, but the road leading to Umden is hazardous.
The CSWO has also received complaints from Mawthwan village under Sohiong in East Khasi Hills, where the whole road is under water and no drainage is provided, leaving the people, especially the children, to wade through the water as the road is flooded during the rainy days,” the statement said.
According to CSWO, the bad road condition is putting a risk to human life.
The CSWO wondered why the PWD (Roads) was not booking and blacklisting the contractors in view of the terrible road condition all over the State.
