SHILLONG: Taking note of the issues surrounding the health centres in Jaintia Hills which are facing dearth of manpower, the FKJGP Jaintia Hills on Friday submitted a memorandum to Health Minister A.L. Hek seeking his intervention to improve the Nongtalang CHC in West Jaintia Hills where a single doctor has been managing the centre.
The memorandum stated that apart from the Nongtalang CHC, the Jarain PHC has been functioning without a doctor.
With regards to the pending salaries of the employees working under the MCH&FW for the last four months, the FKJGP asked the State government to set up an emergency fund to pay their salary.
The federation informed that there are around 134 employees whose salaries are still pending and the same has been included in the employee database of the government of Meghalaya and there are employees who have served 12 years of service have yet to receive their pay increments under the Assured Carried Progressive Scheme (ASPS).
In view of this the federation said that employees serving more than 5 years should be given permanent post with full benefits.
On the other hand the federation lauded the effort of the Minister in appointing doctors at six health centres in Jaintia Hills which include Bataw, Iooksi, Nangbah, Namdong, Pdengshakap and Laskein.
