Guwahati: The North East Students Organisation (NESO) has demanded imposition of President’s Rule in the frontier hill state of Arunachal Pradesh in view of the present political crisis and deteriorating law and order situation.

The NESO general secretary Gunjum Haider stated that the problem within the ruling Congress had led to instability and break down of law and order in the state including the capital city Itanagar that has witnessed exodus of people from various communities apprehending attack from a particular dominant agitating tribe.

The NESO has called upon youth organisations within all the communities to work in tandem to bring back normalcy and restore inter-communities trust and confidence to save the state from getting plunged into a chaos because of inept handling of the situation by the state government.

Meanwhile, in a letter to all the fourteen MLAs belonging to Nyishi community, Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has called for withdrawal of support to the chief minister Jarbom Gamlin-led government. Of the fourteen MLAs, seven belongs to Congress Party.

Invoking a resolution adopted at the Mega Nyishi Dignity Rally of October 7 last , the NES in a statement asked the MLAs from the community not only to withdraw of support to Jarbom led Government and but also resign from the post of Minister/Parliamentary Secretary as held by them out of respect to the sentiment of the Nyishi community.

“Arunachal Pradesh seems to have been taken for granted by the leaders of the party in power and their cronies. This is nothing but a big insult to the injury to the people as the basic essential tasks like developing the communication, power, civil hygiene, health and allied things are being constantly sacrificed at the altar of inter-group rivalry in power politics in the APCC”, the NCP state party president Ngurang Pinch said.
