SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has registered its protest against the alleged illegal appointments made by GAD Minister AL Hek for the various posts of LDAs and receptionist at the Meghalaya Houses situated at Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai.
The CSWO on Wednesday submitted a complaint to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma informing him about the alleged illegal appointments in the three Meghalaya Houses.
The CSWO claimed that the advertisements for the jobs had appeared in The Shillong Times on September 23 and the last date for submission of application forms was mentioned as October 19.
“But we have learnt from reliable sources that GAD Minister AL Hek has already appointed his own people and some of them have even joined their duties on Tuesday (October 18),” the letter addressed to the Chief Minister alleged.
According to the CSWO, the illegal appointments should be scrapped and all candidates should be given a chance to appear for the written and personal interviews.
“If this cheap tactic had to be used by the Minister then why did the Government advertise for the post and mislead the youths who have wasted their time and money in submitting their applications,” the CSWO questioned.
The CSWO also claimed that one Gopal and one Herbert had already been appointed in the Meghalaya Houses.
When contacted, GAD Minister AL Hek, surprisingly defended the appointments stating that these posts have been filled up on contractual basis and the temporary appointments would be nullified once candidates are selected for all the posts.
“These people have been appointed in various posts on a temporary basis as we cannot keep the posts vacant for a long period,” Hek claimed.
He also asserted that all the appointment would be made in a transparent manner.
As per the advertisement issued by the General Administration (A) Department, applications were invited for four posts of LDAs in Meghalaya House, Kolkata, one post in Meghalaya House, Mumbai and one post of LDA-cum-receptionist in Meghalaya House, New Delhi.
