KSU demands RTE implementation

Shillong: The KSU has demanded implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) in the State.

Inaugurating a classroom of the Mylliem Secondary School at Mylliem on Wednesday, KSU general secretary Hamlet Dohling said the organisation was concerned about the education of the youth especially those residing in rural areas.

He said the Education department had completed all the preparation to implement the RTE, but the matter was still lying on the Chief Minister’s table.

The KSU donated Rs 2 lakh for the construction of a classroom in this school. “The organisation has taken initiative to establish schools in Khasi-Jaintia Hills for the youth of the state”, Dohling said.

On this day, the organisation has distributed mementos to four students of the school who excelled in the SSLC Examination 2011.

President of the managing committee of the school, Pro Pastor LA Sohlang, the principal of the school M Skhembill also spoke on the occasion.
