Kidnapped UP boy rescued in city, couple held

SHILLONG: A seven-year-old boy, who was abducted from a village in Uttar Pradesh, was rescued and a couple was arrested in the city on Tuesday.
The city police acted with alacrity after they received information from Sultanpur police in Uttar Pradesh on Monday about the boy who was abducted from Jhuara village in the northern state.
The kidnappers had demanded ransom for the release of the boy.     Officers of Sadar police station worked together with the Special Cell of SP’s office and they were able to locate the kidnappers in Police Bazar area.
The cops immediately started search of all hotels in the area and rescued the boy.
The arrested kidnappers have been identified as Shyamsundar Shitala Prasad Shukla and his wife Shalini Shyamsundar Shukla, both from Nongmynsong.
Both were arrested earlier by Shillong police in a similar case.
