SHILLONG: A group of 10 inmates of the Shillong District Jail assaulted a warden inside the prison premises on Saturday.
Police said the incident happened on Saturday morning when the inmates assaulted warden Chinmoy Hajong (24) for detaining a group of inmates for breaking a tube light. Later, he was rescued by other under-trial prisoners.
The warden sustained injuries and was removed to a hospital. Hajong has filed an FIR in this connection but the police will have to take permission of the court before arresting the accused.
