SHILLONG/TURA: The Union Minister for Textiles, Smriti Zubin Irani and Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will jointly inaugurate the first ever Apparel & Garment Making Centre in the State at Hatisil, Ampati in South West Garo Hills on Monday.
The inaugural function which will be held at 10.00 am. The foundation stone for setting up this Apparel & Garment Centre under North East Region Textiles Promotion Scheme, was laid by the Chief Minister in the presence of the then Union Minister of State for Textiles, Santosh Kumar Gangwar on May 22, 2015.
Irani chides man for clicking pictures
Meanwhile, Irani chided a man at a product exhibition here on Sunday accusing him of taking pictures without permission. The Minister was moving from one stall to the other, admiring apparels weaved with tribal motifs and interacting with the participants when all of a sudden she turned towards a man in the crowd and reproached him. The Minister was heard saying, “Chori chupke photo lene theek nahin hain (Taking pictures secretly is not good).” It was not known as to what annoyed the Minister.
